I swear it would’ve been better if Gunn didn’t say anything about adapting Woman of Tomorrow because then we wouldn’t have this drama. I never expect film adaptation to match the beloved source material. We need to free ourselves up to enjoy films in their own right and know that we’ll always have the source to go back to and enjoy.

99% of the audience did NOT read the comic, they just want to see a good movie. So if they part ways with the source material, that is not a big issue I would say.

I think the ending is clear to me that Supergirl has taken on the weight from Ruthie. She is a hero who is willing to make the tough choices. Also the krypto change makes the stakes of this movie for most dog lovers heightened I think aside from the color palette the changes were well done for this medium and for this new dc universe.

not staying true to the source material wouldn’t be a huge deal to me if the comic wasn’t so incredible and the movie wasn’t so flat. i think the creators of the film lost the message somewhere in all the changes.

I love the comic and the movie, and i feel like it was a very healthy adaptation that could be enjoyed by comic and casual fans. honestly my only gripe is the color palette, especially because superman got such a pretty color palette

I feel like they sanitized Kara's backstory, in the comic she was 14 when the planet fell when she was stuck in Argo, they cut out the parts where she was just a regular girl who was at school the day the planet fell. Instead they made her be born post planet fall. They also removed her trying to save argo by covering the ground, among other things

Ruthye felt so underdeveloped in the movie. I think they really needed to include some Good Neighbor sequences like from issue 4 to show off the heroism of Kara and strengthen her relationship with Ruthye. And if lobo had to be included they could’ve written him as more of a foil to Kara

as someone who hasn't read the comic, the comic sounds better. the motivations and overall story sounds far more interesting than what we got. movie is fine but couldve been better 🤷

hey!! not sure if u remember me saying i had skipped ur review bc i didnt wanna go in already disappointed;;;; watched it last night and yeah u were right. i read the comic, and whole movie i was comparning them and the comic is just so much better in every way. the writing as a whole was just not good, at least compared to the comic. ik they had to take some creative liberties but idk. they threwwwww so hardd

its not adapting the comic book, stop putting out that false narrative. Its not a 1:1 adaptation, its just inspired by the comic just like MCU Civil War movie is inspired by its comic counterpart. We should not be comparing the two at all
