The tragedy is that Megami doesn't value his life. He doesn't think he's a good person, but he saved Yuji because he sees the good in him that he can never see in himself. Yuji funny enough sees the good in everyone else but himself after Shibuya. They foil each other so well; the difference is that Yuji knows that if he doesn't give it his all, everyone dies. Megumi is too short-sighted, he believes that if he sacrifices himself he can buy the others more time to win.
