Your life really does start to shift when you learn how to recognise the people who were sent to grow you. One of the quiet mistakes we make is misreading the people around us. We label too quickly. We take things personally. Sometimes we even push away the very people who are trying to shape us. If you slow down and look back on your life, you’ll start to notice a pattern. The right people showed up at the right time, but not always in the way you expected. Some came to comfort you when you were tired and unsure. Some came to challenge you when you were getting too comfortable. Some came to warn you when you were about to make a costly mistake. Some came to stretch you into a version of yourself you hadn’t even imagined yet. The problem is, in the moment, it rarely feels that clear. The person who corrected you might have felt like they were against you. The one who told you the truth may have been the hardest to be around. Growth doesn’t always arrive gently. Sometimes it comes through friction. But give it time, and your perspective changes. You start to see that not everyone who made you uncomfortable was trying to hurt you. Some of them were trying to prepare you. They weren’t blocking your path. They were building you for it. I think about my grandmother Sista, who raised me with discipline and love. At the time, I thought she was hard on me. But she was raising strength. Over time, I’ve come to recognise a few types of people who often show up to grow and shape us: • The Comforters: they hold you when life is difficult. • The Challengers: they stretch your perspective and force you to grow • The Protectors: they warn you when something is not right, even when it’s uncomfortable • The Builders: they help you rise into who you are meant to become Wisdom is learning how to recognise them. Your life will change the day you do💫🖤💛
