@offenceregister: Salil Korambayil Redhill Rapist Trainee Surgeon After being found guilty at a retrial for raping two women in North Devon and Cornwall, Salil Korambayil, a trainee surgeon, was given a 14-year prison sentence. Judge Simon Carr sentenced Salil Korambayil to prison after finding him guilty of three rape charges. After meeting the two victims on social media, Korambayil, 34, of Redhill, Surrey, attacked and sexually assaulted them in their houses. In November 2023, a jury at Truro Crown Court found him guilty after he denied three charges of rape. Korambayil contested his convictions after the initial trial, and the Court of Appeal overturned them and mandated a new trial. Following the guilty verdicts, reporting restrictions that were in place until the end of the retrial have been lifted, allowing the details to be made public today, Thursday, June 25. Korambayil was sentenced to seven years in prison for each victim, to be served consecutively. Additionally, he is required to sign the lifetime sex offenders' register. The victims of his crimes have received recognition for their perseverance in participating in the investigation and legal proceedings. Two rapes involving a second victim occurred in Cornwall in March 2021, while one rape occurred in North Devon in August 2020. The court heard that Korambayil had been a trainee colorectal and vascular surgeon in hospitals from 2016 to 2021. #SalilKorambayil #Redhill #RedhillRapist #TraineeSurgeon #Cornwall
