People don't realize how iconic the color choice was here. that shade of green went viral for the entire summer. everyone connected anyone who wore or displayed that color to the album. the marketing of a signature COLOR is genius. it's so simple yet effective.

But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue. It's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner…where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin.

I love how polarizing this design is. For half of the people it’s genius, and for the other half: “it’s just a green bg with arial, I don’t get why everyone says it’s genius, people don’t know good design nowadays, people will love anything nowadays, I’m mad that people like that design”.
