Absolutely agree!!! The most common place that I have seen these major thresholds celebrated is in some literature. I do appreciate that Indigenous cultures do celebrate the paths of women and celebrate the wisdom of elders.

So true and I’m furious about it too. So much shame…

There was a documentary I watched when I was really young, when the girl got her period her mom celebrated and got her a fancy box of chocolates, I asked my mom to do that for me and I never really got it. and I still think about how diythe world would be if all women got that instead of shame,

I celebrated my firstborn daughter when she started her first period. I bought her gifts, and we had a little celebration together. She was embarrassed, but she accepted my gifts and my excitement.
When I was 11, my own mother couldn't even talk to me about it. Instead, she asked a neighbour to come over, who briefly explained what was happening and gave me some pain relief.
