I know I’m in the minority, but I did not like this ending whatsoever. Sure, it was a funny moment, but I feel it was very disrespectful too what was a very charming show. To suggest it didn’t exist and was just a dream shatters the illusion of the peaceful escape it provided each week. Yes, I truly felt cheated by this ending. Moreover, I do know at least one crew member who felt the same way, and according to him, there was one cast member that felt the same way. I don’t know that to be true, it’s secondhand information to me, but I can see how they might feel like that. Sure it was a big laugh, but it didn’t really properly end the show for the people who loved it.

Best ending ever. Then in the Bob Newhart show reunion special, Bob can’t fit in the elevator with the rest of the cast, goes to take the next one and Larry, Darryl, and Darryl are in the elevator. “I think I’ll take the stairs”. 😂
