I am still married. I’m just doing this part of our marriage without him by my side. If it’s a customer, I sometimes just talk in the present tense like he’s still here; but otherwise I tell people I’m a widow.

I’m not a widow, but I did have a boyfriend die. And I eventually got tired of bringing down the energy of the conversation with it. So I did stop telling people when they asked. I just say “I didn’t work out” ..and that’s the truth. It keeps the conversation moving on to the next thing.

I'm 17 months out- I will always say I'm widowed- you asked, you're gonna get the answer. They don't expect it when I'm in my 40's but here we are.

Depends on the person,situation and the day.Usually I say I was or I’m a widow but I hate hearing widow too so much I avoided international widow day.

I still wear my wedding ring, 15 months later. I never got divorced so my marriage vows still stands, and yes I know it was until death do we part but I do care what people think.And by the way she is always around me. Sorry Nicole.😇

My husband passed way almost 2 years ago and I always say my husband passed way and they do the exact thing you said “oh my, you’re so young, that’s so sad” I just say “yeah”

Just blurt it out. You’re going through a world of pain and if their afternoon is ruined because you chose to tell them straight up, they can deal. It’s not your responsibility to console them and it’s not your responsibility to filter yourself when you’re grieving.
