It was so much better in Santa Monica. The last few miles went downhill as you caught ocean breezes and a *drop* in temperature. You can grab your medal and put your feet in the ocean. I don’t blame people for not wanting to do an out and back for the hardest last few miles in century city.

I’m still running it again next year, but you gotta acknowledge that if it had ended in Santa Monica this year there would’ve been a temperature drop as we neared the end instead of having to deal with an out ‘n back in 90 degree heat

It ended there FOR years and was iconic. You get to run thru so many diff LA neighborhoods and that’s part of the journey. Also the century city part is the least interesting part of the course. The end is the culmination of 26.2 miles of work and training. Santa Monica was a great finish. Also for spectators- lots of places to hit up to eat when u finish with your support crew. I’ve done race 8 times and no real interest in doing that course

I’d rather watch my birth, than run the current LA marathon course.

I mean course layout matters. That last 8 mile loop has the worst views. Maybe AT LEAST a revision of that part of the course. Also, the course is 26.6 miles…

It's iconic. Starting at an iconic landmark and ending in one makes it more attractive.

I’ve ran the current route twice now & to be honest I’m already bored of it. That’s the reason why I’m not signing up for LA anymore.

I loved it ending in Santa Monica. I love a great finish. Some of my favorites are ending in Cental Park or the Superdome or right under touch down Jesus. A mall parking lot for a huge run like LA is a let down.

I missed running the LAM ending in Santa Monica by two years and I wished I'd experienced it, but I just registered for my 4th LAM and 2nd conquer LA - the Santa Monica 10K kinda makes up for it! And, its my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, that the city of SM is who ultimately decided they didnt want the LAM ending there anymore 🤷♀️

I’ve run it for fives years, so I’ve never gotten to cross a finish line in Santa Monica. I wish it would go back, but as someone living in the Valley, it would take longer to get home, and the already-endless shuttle ride would be so much worse!

I want it back at the Colosseum. The LA marathon should also showcase true LA not just wealthy and transplant LA.

It’s a big deal that it doesn’t end in Santa Monica to none hardcore distance runners. Most may only run one race in their life and they want to choose a marathon that will be as memorable as possible. Not having the LOS ANGELES marathon end at the California coast is truly embarrassing for the city.
