@maggiepotamus_: I have so many little daily rituals to keep including my Maggie girl in my life. Including, on nights when I am struggling I light a candle and talk to her and tell her all the ways im keeping my final promise to her. Externalizing your grief can do wonders. Never allow someone else’s perspectives or judgements make you feel bad for how you cope with loss. ❤️❤️ #petloss #petlossgrief #HealingJourney
I have a doc in my Google drive that I write in anytime I want to talk to my boy and I make sure I update him on my life every Thursday. it's been 74 weeks now

Every morning I wake up and the first thing I say is “good morning Toby” because I want him to know he’s my first thought every single day. I make sure to say hi to him every time I come home.

This is a weird one but I got my dog CFA the morning I took her to the vet and I haven’t been able to throw the bag away.. it’s still sitting in the fridge with the half eaten biscuit in it 😕

When my black kitten was alive, I would always tell him "Bye, you're in charge of the house and your siblings." when I left for work. He's been gone for 4 years now & I still say that to his urn. I could never leave the other 2 cats in charge, they're insane.

Apparently our brains produce the same amount of oxytocin when we look at our dogs as when we look at our children. We are uniquely attached to dogs and on a chemical level they are our kiddos. The grief is real and that is okay.

I sleep with my dog’s blanket 🖤 i had cleaned it the day before she passed away, knowing I was going to place it on her while she was passing. I wanted to keep that moment forever in its threads. I also got her tattooed on my shin and her ashes were added to think. This way she will walk with me forever. I also pet her everyday and tell her I love her. Her dog collar, ball, the bowl that had the ice cream she ate before she passed, and her baby teeth are in a glass coffin next to my bed. 🖤

Never judge a grieving person. Everyone grieves differently and that's okay!

I disassembled my soul dogs clothes, costumes, beds, blankets, etc and made a memory blanket that I sleep with every night. What company did your friend use for the paint by number portrait? I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️

It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else but you. I do some unhinged things since losing my girl almost a year ago and I’m ok with that. I’ll never be ashamed of the love I have for my girl. ❤️

I put my dogs ashes in her favorite stuffed toy and carry her around with me anytime I’m at home. I get to kiss her and hold her. It’s very comforting. ❤️

Losing a pet is so different than losing a human. Trust I’ve lost many of both. We are everything to our pets. We are their whole world. We are not the whole world to another human. The loss feels so different. And I’m not saying one is more significant than the other. It’s just different and it should be ok to be coping however we see fit.

My boy, Sage, passed on August 7. He was my Service Dog, heart dog, soul dog. I have been taking his tag collar everywhere with me. Maybe I'll start bringing his leash everywhere... I sleep with the tag collar. I miss him so much it hurts.

I put his ashes in a sunbeam when I think he’d want to lay there. Normally I keep him right under my bed, because he liked to sleep there each night. I also got him a little plaque that I put where he’d watch me make my coffee in the morning.

I made a sort of DIY “keychain”, where I took a little baggie of her fur and sewed it into a small pouch of pretty fabric, with a loop sewed in so I can put it on my carabiner that I keep my keys on. I take this with me whenever I want to “take her with me” somewhere.

I still talk to her everyday like she's here. I also make her bed for her every night and tuck her in. If I'm lucky, she visits me in my dreams

On my bubs memorial I still make sure to place new flowers every Sunday for him because he loved to smell flowers, even 9 months later ❤️🩹
