If they want students to repay "what they signed for", then everyone with a bankruptcy should also pay back what they signed for (including those that restructured those debts into a corporation..)

Honestly drop the interest to .1% (cover admin expense) and I’d be good with that… government should not be making money off our student loans since we already bring value by being more productive regarding taxes.

Why do they do these things 10 minutes before they are supposed to go into effect?

This is why I keep ignoring all the emails that say I have to pick something new. I’ll pick a new plan when an actual adult tells me what the rules are.

That’s I’m a wait and see because the amount of litigation around this is absolutely out of control and I’m not switching until I absolutely have to.

If they want us to pay what we signed for, I’d like to pay the amount my schooling cost. Not the interest that was tacked on to it.

I graduated college 15 years ago. I borrowed $27k in loans. I paid $23k back over this 15 years, but I still owe $24k. It’s because I bounced between repayment plans, forbearances, deferments, and multiple attempts to get the payments to an affordable monthly amount. It all went to interest. It’s currently at $600 a month, which is about 25% of my monthly paycheck. It’s too much, I struggle, and it’s a constant source of stress.

I’m hoping this is true, I have not done a thing to change my plan as I am waiting to hear from my loan servicer before doing so. I’d love them to either keep the SAVE plan or forgive the loans because it’s getting outrageous that no one can come to an agreement yet

I mean I wish they would just cut the interest and have us just pay the rest out with no interest. I don't mind paying my loans back. But dang on a $58,000 loan, I still owe $45,000 and have paid $40,000 in interest. It feels never ending.

We won’t even have social security by the time we reach retirement age. We pay taxes on EVERYTHING. Forgive the loans!

good luck to them. i'll change plans on day 89 and even at that, they ain't getting a dollar from me. makes no sense how i had around 65k in loans 9 years ago and now it’s almost $90k. if they dropped or eliminated the rates, i'd reconsider. wish i had studied aboard in a place that had little to no tuition like some people are starting to do

I’m so over all these things with loans. I couldn’t afford the repayment, went into deferment, then I started paying what I could, covid happened everything paused, now my repayment date has changed like 5 times, interest has now kicked back in where I now have over $16,000 in interest since that has restarted. I just want an affordable repayment plan and no interest
