I'd agree with the general sentiment that IQ is an accurate measure of "potential". Creativity and Discipline are often disregarded in majority of tests, and with these being some of the most important modern characteristics to possess for success I'd feel that this would semi invalidate measuring IQ as a tool to measure success in today's world 🤔

well of course we can measure iq, that's obvious. It's just iq doesn't make up the full scale of intelligence. but that is subjective to how you define intelligence

Looks are physical which makes it easy to measure but the complexity of the brain makes it very hard to understand how intelligent someone is

assessing reasoning ability is the only accurate way to proxy an estimate of intelligence. the ability to inductively reason the logic behind an incomplete set matrix and deduce the features of the item missing, accurately, is structurally identical to an individual's ability to reason generally in any novel context because the same basic mechanisms governing performance are actively present in both. if you accept that intelligence is general reasoning then everything follows logically.

well IQ accurately measures what it is that it is supposed to measure, I think what people mean to say when they say that IQ can’t be measured is that people put too much emphasis on one’s IQ when there are just too many variables of the human psyche to accurately describe in one quotient

میں سوچتی تھی... لوگ سجدوں میں اتنا رو کیسے لیتے ہیں؟ پھر ایک دن میری باری آ گئی۔ پھر میں نے جانا کہ کچھ درد ایسے ہوتے ہیں جنہیں لفظوں میں بیان نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ کچھ زخم ایسے ہوتے ہیں جو لوگوں کو دکھائے نہیں جا سکتے، اور کچھ آنسو ایسے ہوتے ہیں جو صرف اللہ کے سامنے ہی بہائے جا سکتے ہیں۔ میں بھی کبھی حیران ہوتی تھی کہ آخر سجدے میں ایسی کون سی بات ہے کہ انسان ٹوٹ کر رونے لگتا ہے۔ پھر زندگی نے ایسے امتحان دیے... ایسے اپنے دکھائے... ایسی دعائیں کیں جو پوری نہ ہوئیں... ایسی جدائیاں ملیں... اور ایسے زخم ملے جنہیں کسی انسان نے نہیں، وقت نے دیا۔ تب سمجھ آیا... سجدہ صرف عبادت نہیں، ٹوٹے ہوئے دلوں کی پناہ گاہ بھی ہے۔ وہاں نہ کسی وضاحت کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے، نہ اپنی بے گناہی ثابت کرنے کی۔ اللہ آنسو گرنے سے پہلے ہی دل کی کیفیت جانتا ہے۔ کبھی کبھی انسان پوری دنیا کے سامنے مضبوط رہتا ہے، مگر سجدے میں جاتے ہی بکھر جاتا ہے۔ کیونکہ وہاں اسے یقین ہوتا ہے کہ جس کے سامنے وہ رو رہا ہے، وہ اس کے ہر درد، ہر آہ، ہر خاموشی اور ہر دعا سے واقف ہے۔ اور حقیقت تو یہ ہے... سجدوں میں بہنے والے آنسو کمزوری کی علامت نہیں ہوتے، بلکہ اس یقین کی دلیل ہوتے ہیں کہ ابھی بھی ایک در ایسا ہے جہاں سے کوئی خالی نہیں لوٹتا۔ اگر آج تم بھی سجدوں میں رو رہے ہو، تو مایوس مت ہونا۔ ہو سکتا ہے تمہارے آنسو ہی تمہاری قبول ہونے والی دعا کا آغاز ہوں۔
