My heritage is Manx. The Isle of Man issued a stamp with my great-great-great grandmother’s image a few years back. 🇮🇲

The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown Dependency, meaning it is not part of the United Kingdom but is a possession of the British Crown. The British Monarch, King Charles III, holds the title Lord of Mann and acts as the head of state

Just a few corrections to an otherwise good video. We use the Manx Pound as currency, it's value is the same as GBP but it is separate- you can't use Manx notes across in England. The King is still the Lord of Mann, not the King and it is run by the Lieutenant General (whose title is on our passports)

Neither the UK nor the Isle if Man uses kilometres, so why are they being used in this video? We only use miles

It’s pronounced “tin-wall-d” and also we don’t use the British pound we have our own currency called the Manx pound

Thank you. I learned a lot about the place that meant so much to my mum due to holidaying there in the early 50’s.

'New Zealand was the first self-governing country in the world to grant women the right to vote in parliamentary elections. The Electoral Act was signed into law on September 19, 1893, following a massive petition led by suffragist Kate Sheppard.
While earlier regional or isolated exceptions existed—such as Pitcairn Island in 1838, the Isle of Man in 1881, and the territory of Wyoming in 1869—New Zealand was the first sovereign nation to extend this right to all adult women on a national level.'
