@cbsmiami: Haitian Temporary Protected Status holders and immigration advocates in South Florida are expressing fear and uncertainty after the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for the Trump administration to end TPS protections for hundreds of thousands of Haitians. Community members said the decision leaves families worried about deportation, separation and the future they have built in the States, while many described Haiti as too dangerous to return to because of ongoing gang violence, political instability and a worsening humanitarian crisis. Advocates urged TPS holders to remain calm, seek legal guidance and explore any available immigration options, while pledging to continue fighting through the courts and Congress. Community leaders said they will keep pushing for a permanent solution, emphasizing that South Florida's Haitian community has contributed to the region for decades and that ending TPS would have lasting consequences for families, businesses and the local economy.

Haitians in the United States are not a burden. We work hard, pay taxes, build businesses, care for our families, and contribute every day to the communities we live in.
Behind every Haitian is a story of courage, sacrifice, and hope. We deserve respect, dignity, and opportunity, just like everyone else.
Do not judge a people by the crisis they are going through. Judge them by the values they uphold, the strength they show, and the contributions they make 🤝

temporary
/ˈtempəˌrerē/
Temporary refers to something lasting or intended to last for a limited period of time; it is the opposite of permanent. It implies an arrangement with no thought of long-term continuance, serving instead as a brief, passing, or interim measure.

For uneducated people and bigots who are using any justification they can come up with: The word temporary in TPS is not a time limit, but rather when safety conditions are met in home countries.
Haiti is one of the most dangerous countries in the world right now. It is disgustingly inhumane to force people, including children, back there. Or forcing families to choose between taking their citizen children to a very dangerous place or leaving them behind.
TPS holders are not 'draining' our resources either. TPS holders are here working in fields where there are shortages, contributing over 5.9 billion annually to our economy and paying over 1 billion in taxes.
Why would we send them back to one of the most dangerous places in the world when they are legally here and have not committed crimes?
Ppl shout about us being a Christian nation, but posting the 10 commandments in classrooms while simultaneously kicking out an overwhelmingly Christian community of immigrants is antithetical to the teachings of Christ. Christ said you shall know them by their fruits, not by their crosses, or their "im a warrior for Christ" tshirts, or how loudly they proclaim their faith while they begrudge the poor and vulnerable.
I swear some bigots just want any excuse to make America as white as they can and it disgusts me to no end. But remember also that up to 50 percent of comments on controversial issues like this one are BOTS.
Most people are still good. I have hope that we can overcome this ugliness one day and recognize one another's humanity. In the meantime, speak for the mute. Stand up for the downtrodden.
