I thought the point of the scene was to show how close and comfortable they were immediately without saying it in words. there was definitely a point other than nudity for nudity sake.

It was a quick view as she changed from one shirt to another. I think this is very common between close friends, at least it is in all of my friend groups. To me it just establishes that they are close and comfortable with each other, no big deal whatsoever

That was actually part of the books. Hannah makes a comment about how much Allie helped her gain confidence in college by normalizing that kind of stuff. She also found it weird at first but it was part of what led to them becoming such close friends. I think its a small relatable college moment to show their closeness and makes sense for their characters.
