@cbcnews: Billions of pounds of fresh produce pass through this Ontario Food Terminal per year. Could more terminals like it help bring better prices in grocery stores across the country? #GroceryPrices #FoodPrices #CanadianEconomy #CBCNews
Curious how Loblaws will own this entire thing in the near future

More competition could help lower grocery prices.

We call it "Mandi" in South Asia and almost every city has it. Anyone can go there and buy in bulk. Just like Auction...or if you agree to pay asking price (without negotiating)

so how are they gonna grow food faster if the cost is due to demand so wouldn't this heavily increase the demand and increase waste 🤔 or am I crazy ..

El Salvador did this 2 years ago they are called agro markets. It’s way cheaper to buy vegetables and fruit there than in the grocery stores. I think they have about 30 of them throughout the country.

Less middle men. But also NoFrills has vertical monopolies. So they also produce food and can sell here which shouldn't be allowed

YES, it will!! Hazelwood Davis was a prominent wholesale grocery company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba during the 1970s - 1990s. Then Sobeys bought it and now independent grocers only have Sobeys Cash and Carry or The Great Canadian Wholesale (which is owned by and carries Loblaws products).

No it won’t help. Grocery stores buy directly from the farmers and fields in the US to their distribution centres.

ya well as a consumer id rather pay $1 and it last a full week like it used to instead of it literally going bad over night and now being out the money... either I get a refund but now spend the $3 on gas and time to get there or I just lose the money.
