@ssrvela: Karuppu (2026), directed by RJ Balaji and starring Suriya, is a fantasy-thriller about the guardian deity Vettai Karuppu (also called Ellaswamy, deity of the Seven Wells) who disguises himself as a lawyer to fight corruption in a broken court system. The story begins with Binu, a young girl awaiting a liver transplant, and her father Mattancherry Sukumaran traveling from Kerala to Chennai with 60 sovereigns of gold to fund the surgery. During a train halt, thieves steal their bag, and when they file a complaint, police claim to have recovered only 45 sovereigns. The jewels can only be returned through a court petition, so they approach Baby Kannan (RJ Balaji), a powerful but corrupt advocate who controls the local court through manipulation and greed. Instead of helping, Baby Kannan deliberately drags the case for money, slowly destroying the family's hope. Heartbroken, Sukumaran prays to Vettai Karuppu, who decides to punish Baby Kannan and enters the court disguised as advocate Saravanan (Suriya).
