@bioncasmith3: I share this information in hopes that it can save another dog’s life. We had just left the vet 48hrs prior and we believed her little body was recovering yet suffering somehow from all the meds she’s was already on. But the reality is that she was dying slowly because she needed a blood transfusion even after no longer having worms. Her little body was too weak and she needed a blood transfusion before anyone could tell because just a week ago, she was a happy pup full of energy. She had a home lined up and her passing is heartbreaking for us all. We still have two of her siblings and one is following Blue Belle’s path beginning with their gums turning pale. We’re scared and running low on vet funds and not knowing what we can do next. Being on the frontline with our rescues is like being a paramedic and a foster parent. It’s a passionate choice to hold space for a physical and emotionally taxing role and we get attached. I care deeply and unconditionally about each rescue. I sit with grief, guilt and sadness whenever anything goes wrong with our rescues because I only want the best life for all of them.
