It depends. Some PIs dont want you to think independently, unless its doing lab work. They just want you to focus on generating data for their ideas.

I am working on reading 📖 more to prepare for PhD. 😩 so how much should I read you said hundreds of pages. Should I try to read 1 book a week or research heavy large pages. I finished my freshman year spring 26.

Eventually when I am done grad school and I’m in my fiend for a few years I would do a PHD I love research so much but a part of me just want to be on the ground being a therapist and helping individuals, not just the field as a whole if that makes sense

I think this is a really interesting take because I feel like my undergraduate work and MA work in Canada prepared me for exactly that; or, rather, we were already being asked to work to those standards. I think a lot of this is perhaps program/discipline and institution-dependent > being degree dependent.

I am a 4.0 GPA graduate student at the university of Central Florida (R1). My Masters is being done completely online. I would say that I’m absolutely able to manage myself.

I’m a first year PhD student and I love this entire page. Regarding this specific video I worry A LOT about doing the right things, about not being producing something groundbreaking and hearing someone who’s an expert saying that the things I should worry about are my time management, my autonomy, my ability to produce work efficiently (which are things that I don’t think I lack in) is soothing my worries. Maybe I’m doing a good job after all 😪
