Learning the local language definitely helps and I fully support that. It also depends on how long someone has been living in the country. Asking random people whether they pay taxes is quite offensive, so I’d be careful with that. It’s not really anyone’s place to question that unless they’re the relevant authority. Also, if you’re under 26, you are probably exempted from taxes. In fact, many migrants are working, paying taxes, and contributing to the social welfare system that benefits you too. Let’s not make people feel like they don’t belong in society. I grew up in the UK around many Polish people, and there are still plenty who have lived there for 20 years and don’t speak much English. It works both ways sometimes, and that’s worth keeping in mind. That said, I do believe everyone should make an effort to learn the language of the country they live in.

I think , if possible ,try to learn the language of the foreign country ..start with small words or sentences. local people are always happy when you reply then back. I can speak intermediate German (but after few beers I understand almost everything) 🤠 ...I also worked in many different countries , I didn't picked up any language because English was something I was using ... paying taxes ...even more than locals ..so never had a problem... but if you are young , always learn as many languages as possible ... listen to their music , watch their theatres (I am not saying read books as you can't read) ... and respect all people regardless where they come from 🙏🤠
