That gel works better when you apply it with wet hair. Immediately after rinsing out the conditioner, apply your leave in and brush through. After, start in the back and apply the gel in rows going across. After you apply the gel, brush the section through then move to the next row until you get to the front. You may need to have a spray bottle to spray each section if you move slow. The Doux products are great for black hair. Another product that might work better if you move slow is the Bonita Bubble Balm, then Bee Girl Gel as needed after.

it dont look bad, smaller sections and make sure your hair is more wet when applying the leave in, and finger rake

Detangle in the shower if you can after applying the conditioner. But detangling will help you use a denman or curl brush. Also at least part your hair in 4 to apply any curl products. Sectioning helps distribution.
