i wanna write a book and i just finished planning my chapters but im okay to just write and let it flow i actually really love that idea. i do feel though that the pacing will be off, and knowing when im gonna start another chapter allows me to foll out what i need and understand like the best way to go about it. love making my characters so much i could tell you so much about them

Tip one is a good one and one I have not heard mentioned, but I absolutely agree with and do the same. I've even had it where I waited til the end and then cut a scene in the developmental edit stage and had to remember them all, so truly wait until the end. I have had the opposite experience with point number 5, however. I'm surprised at how few people ever ask how it's coming along. Congrats and best of luck on your book!

I number my chapters 💀💀 also I prefer to overwrite then cut back later - it helps when you go back and you can cut out a lot in editing (at least 10%) and this actually helps you to understand what you meant at the time, it also takes pressure off feeling like you have to write a certain way for your first draft because that decreases creativity- just write what comes to mind, perfect it later 💕💕💕

I have made google calendars for the dates and events of my Contemporary YA novel, so birthdays, cheerleading comps, court dates, so it makes sense with the space between the events- and I have a fantasy series that I write and it never got picked up, I’ve gone back to re edit and I really see a massive difference in my writing style then to now, so I’m re editing it (again)!

Respectfully, the ‘map out your world’ made me laugh. The only reason I say this is because I’m currently writing a book where the main character is basically trapped in the woods the whole time 🥹 It’s great advice, though!
