@thepottymouthguru: One of the most confusing parts of defensiveness is that it often leaves the other person feeling like they’re losing their mind. You walk into the conversation wanting to discuss one thing. Twenty minutes later you’re defending your tone, explaining your memory, responding to old arguments, talking about something completely different, or trying to prove you’re not the problem. And suddenly you can’t even remember how the conversation started. Whether it’s intentional or unconscious, the result is often the same. The original concern never gets addressed. Healthy conflict doesn’t require staying perfect. It requires staying with the issue long enough to understand it. If every conversation keeps drifting somewhere else, nothing ever gets repaired. ❤️🤟🏻🌿 #UNFUCKYOURSELF #THEPOTTYMOUTHGURU #RelationalTrauma #HealthyCommunication #SelfAwarenes
My husband does the last one but it’s more of an attack on my character. 😭

Ok so my defensiveness problem is I try to get him to understand why he feels that way instead of just saying ya my bad for something I don’t think is bad. Then it would turn into character attacks on me. Over time I got tired of feeling like his therapist. Send help

The fastest way to avoid accountability is to make the conversation about something else. ❤️🤟🏻
