i used to work in a SAIP in oregon. watching them work to earn privileges and grow and run after they do is heartbreaking. You did everything you could and that is glaringly clear

Some people can't be helped because they don't want to. I had to understand that early and honestly it freed me from a lot of emotional weight, but it's very sad and disappointing.

My daughter was recently court ordered back into our home despite having violently and sxly abused her younger brothers and hurt all of us. The judge scoffed and blew it off bc she is highly manipulative and presents as polite and harmless. 1 yr left til 18 and I too know I’ve done everything possible. Kicked out of 9 treatment facilities

This was a struggle in my family. The child’s issues were absolutely genetic—his other parent and their family had the same extreme, antisocial behaviors. He’s in his 40s and still bouncing in and out of prison and mental health units. Whatever makes him different, we don’t have the knowledge to manage or cure. And it just fucking sucks.

I was a kid with severe mental health issues, I was in and out of facilities simply cause I was far too young to get into the ones I needed. You have done all you can, I know you don’t need too hear this but you did amazing you did nothing wrong.

Had adopted a boy that sounds like this. All the care, inpatient placements, therapy, etc. I finally had to realize that I couldn’t help him. He’s 38 and about to get out of prison after 14 years . No, he can’t come back. He’s out of state.

We’re 3 months in, and I’m concerned that when we get to the “end” of this stay we’ll be left feeling the same way you did after SAIP.

Sometimes nothing works and it’s not a system failure, it’s him and his choices and that’s it.

I’m pretty sure you also spent years asking all the professionals if there was anything else to try, anything else to ask for, anything else to fight for, and you did all the things you could PRIOR to what you describe in this video. What you’re describing here was everyone’s last best hope, as far as I remember of what you’ve said, the very last thing to check off the list. It’s not like you tried this one thing and gave up, you tried all the things you knew about and all the things the pros knew about!!!

People always want to blame parents. Sometimes you do everything right and the outcome is still bad. People have free will. Do not blame yourself mom🥰

Wow, there really isn’t any sort of positive outcome when it comes to maternity. Every situation leads up to the mom being exhausted and unrewarded.

I’ve been following you awhile. I remember 1st following you after he ran away. He was 17 and you were actively trying to find him to get him back in a program and down the right path again. You were really trying and the police wouldn’t help you. I don’t think people realize how much effort you put in to try and help him. It’s so sad that this is your reality. It just plain sucks, I don’t have the words. You’re a strong woman!

First, I’m deeply sorry. Your exhaustion must be exhausted. I can’t imagine how painful this is for you. I’m guessing no one who gets pregnant considers possibilities like this for their child. I think you’re brave and generous to share your story and educate others. This can happen to any parent even under the most ideal of circumstances. I am so very sorry.

You are honestly my favorite stranger I have encountered on this app. I usually just like videos and not necessarily the people. You are so well spoken, so thoughtful and genuine, a great role model to me as a mom….your kids are so incredibly lucky to have you.
