It genuinely taught me work ethic and people skills. I’m 20 and started working at a restaurant at 14. No, I didn’t need the money. Actually I come from good money, but I want to be independent and always have wanted that. I learned more people skills, team work, and how to actually follow instructions, which wasn’t common to know at school. I did perfectly fine so far, I’m on a full academic ride at a college, and work my butt off and work close to 40 hours a week by choice. It means I don’t have to watch my spending, I’m not worried about money, I save money live alone in my own place, have a cat. I’ve called my parents for money 3 times in my entire time of college. And one time my car broke down, and it was 4k, one time my cat got sick and needed a 2k surgery, and I paid them back, then my car broke down again.
