honestly imo the professor was the most selfish dude in the show. the way he treated the kid in early days and his own wife was just insane, he only thought about himself and the novels he wrote.

it was sad for him to hear that, but if you see the whole scene the professor was annoyed with his wife its his way to neglect and not care about his wife feeling and her positive input about him.
