@moneygram211: "If anyone must die, let it be me." That's what Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali told his men, minutes before Boko Haram launched their ambush. He wasn't just a soldier. He was the ANARMY kind of leader who prayed first, fought from the front, and gave everything-including his life-for Nigeria. Now, you may not know his name, but if you've ever felt even a little safer in Nigeria, you owe part of that peace to him. This, Le Add 1st is the story of the man they called the Fearless Lion. Let's get into it. Late Muhammad Abu Ali was born Augustnel 15th, 1980, in Kogi State. He was royalty. His father was Brigadier bu Ali General Abu Ali, a former military governor and now the traditional ruler of the Bassa-Nge people. So, you can imagine: discipline, service, sacrifice-Com they all came naturally to him; they were in his blood. He went to Command Secondary School in Jos, and then straight into the Nigerian Defence Academy. By 2003, he had officially joined the Nigerian Army as a Second LieutenantRMY in the Armour Corps, and from there, he didn't just rise through the ranks-he earned his place every single time. Before Boko Haram made headlines, Abu Ali had already served in peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Darfur. But when the war against Boko, Le Add 1st Haram intensified, that's when Nigeria saw his true fire. He was put in charge of the 272 Tankne! Battalion under Operation Lafiya Dole.Ali His mission: reclaim Nigerian towns that Boko Haram had captured, and turn fear into freedom. And he did, one by one. Under his command, towns like m Gamboru Ngala, Baga, Monguno, Goza, Konduga, even parts of Sambisa Forest, were taken back. And he wasn't hiding in a base, oh no. Abu Ali led from the front-tank blazing, uniform dust-covered, always visible, always risking it all. GERIANARMY Soldiers called him Sarkin Yaki, the War Chief. Others simply called him the Lion, because when he showed up, morale went up, hope returned. Boko Haram-they knew his name, they feared him. But here's the part that breaks me ust Die, Le Add 1st when I hear about it: despite all that e courage, Abu Ali once admitted that heel vas scared. A soldier who fought beside him shared this: during a past Ali attack, Abu Ali fainted from fear-not injury, fear. He said when he came to, he couldn't even move at first, he couldn't operate anything, his minds.com was racing. But instead of hiding that, he shared it. He told his men, "Yes, I get scared, but I keep fighting anyway." That's what made him a true leader-not the medals, not the promotions, but the honesty, the heart. Then came November 4th, 2016 IGERIANARMY Mallam Fatori. The troops were preparing for a major offensive. That evening, after the initial victory, Abu Ali stepped out of his tank, made his usual Isha prayer, and told the men, " anyone mustaye, let say mee. And, Least Minutes later, the unthinkable Late had been hiding launched a sus rise nel attack. In the chaos, a fellow soldier, Ali jumped down from his gun to rescue Abu Ali, who had just been shot. He dragged him into the tank, taking a bullet to the leg in the process. It was too late. The Lion had fallen. Some reports later revealed that his battalion only had two night-vision goggles for over 100 men. And on the night that he died, Abu Ali was exposed-he was outside his tank, coordinating in the dark because the tools he needed simply were not there. He still showed up. He still led. He still gave everything. On November 7th, they buried him atie, Le Add 1st the National Military Cemetery in Abuja. His coffin was draped in the Nigerian flag. President Buhari was there, so was the Chief of Army Staff. Grown men wept, because Nigeria didn't just lose a soldier-we lost a shield, , a protector, a man who made us, Le Add 1st believe in heroes again. Today, people rarely say his name, but! will, and I hope you do too: Lieutenant el Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali. He didn't chase fame; he chased peace. And U Ali when it was time to pay the highest price, he paid it willingly. He once said
