@josieeec___: ACHILLES RUPTURE | Week 2 to 4 Post Surgery GOAL: Continue to protect the healing tendon whilst gradually improving ankle movement, safely increasing protected weight bearing and maintaining strength and mobility globally. The baby steps this fortnight: ✨ No concerns at my wound review ✨ Reintroduced 50% weight bearing ✨ Started ankle mobility, started off by only being able to move my toes and am now getting some controlled range towards neutral (still a work in progress) ✨ Under physio guidance, got back into the gym; this involved easing back into cardio (hello assault bike) and reintroducing some load back onto my affected side through leg extensions, hamstring curls, hip abduction/adduction to limit atrophy. Was reminded to keep up the calf exercises on my unaffected side as well ✨ Back at my favourite Pilates and Fitness Studio creating some non weight bearing reformer flows to heal my Pilates Princess FOMO Finding myself enjoying more activities this week and feeling more like a human again with my return to work (desk duty), walking my dogs, and heading down to the netball courts to prove you only need one Achilles to shoot anyway! If you’re in this stage of healing, it’s important to remember your tendon is still healing. Pushing too hard in the early phases of rehab can cause the tendon to elongate which creates a structurally less functional tendon. It’s important to follow the rehab guidelines from your surgeon and physiotherapist. Avoid pushing ahead too quickly or trying to replicate what you see others doing online. Everyone is on a different path which is directly related to their pre op baseline and their functional goals. #achilles #achillestendon #achillesrupture #achillessurgery #injuryrecovery

I’m following you because I think we’re on the same timeline with my surgery being June 1. You seem way more active after week three than I definitely am. I’m in a lot of pain still with burning and foot feels like it’s been put in acid. When did you get signed off to be able to go to the gym and exercise?
