when my mom died during the pandemic six years ago people said they couldn't be near me or speak to me because I look sound and act like my late mother. As an only child daughter who was close with my mom I grieved alone. still do.

My family punishes me for it. The older I get, the more I look like her, the more they get physical with me and berate me, leave me out, criticize me... I've been left to figure everything out on my own since 15, but i'm a "failure" and "lazy"... Sometimes I wonder if I actually died and this is hell, living as someone's ghost to take their punishments for them.

I have an older sister who passed away and I experience this exact same thing with my parents, she died at 17 and I just turned 18, found and old picture of her and we look so similar it just makes me sad sometimes

Seasonal Allergies :
my mom had two funerals because of how many people adored her. Often a stranger in my hometown will burst into tears, I've had people on their knees in the grocery store. It really is seeing a ghost.

I look exactly like my dad who passed in 2020. he was never in my life and i crashed his funeral bc wtf youre not leaving without letting me saying my piece. i didnt know his fam or friends and I was wearing a covid mask but 3 women came up to me like we know who you are...they made me lower my mask and audibly screamed and started sobbing into each others shoulders lmao I was just like 🧍🏻♀️yea I know..looking in the mirror is complicated

it's weird when you see it in the mirror a little more than usual once in a while. no one had my face like my brother did, he was growing into a face just like mine right before he died. people who knew him could tell I was his sister before I even introduced myself all through highschool. at his funeral people were looking at me walk through like a ghost, stopping mid sentence while we were talking to apologize because it kept tripping them up.

My family accidently calls me my mothers names, my teachers who knew her have said I look just like her, even my exs therapist took a picture of me and froze. My nanas friend who hasn't been around for 30 years thought I was her when he saw me. Ive confused old pictures of her for me I have the same intrests, I dress the same, do my eyeliner the same. I have the same mental illness that drove her to break when I was 15. I will never meet someone who knew 100% of my feelings and would react the exact same in ever situation ever again. I feel like I'm her ghost.

I used to get told as a kid growing up I looked so much like my mother until I was 14 (when she had me) and unless I was dressing "childish" I never heard those compliments again... until now a decade later, I hear "oh... so that's what she'd look like" bc I'm a face without drugs and domestic abuse, I'm a face that's survived it, survived her. I still like seeing my face and seeing my mommy though. even if she haunts me (she's alive...) and I hate being near her, I still like seeing the connection and hoping that when she sees my face she sees it too, a face that could've been hers had choices been better.
