NVIDIA isn’t the question. **The entry is.** From early 2023 to late 2025, NVDA rose roughly 1,200%, while its market cap expanded from about $360B to around $3.5T. That doesn’t mean NVIDIA is a bad company. It means the real question is whether buying here still offers a favorable R structure. The fundamentals are extraordinary. Data center revenue climbed from $22.6B in FQ1 to $26.3B in FQ2, $30.8B in FQ3, and an estimated $34B+ in the January quarter. FY25 data center revenue is around $114B, up 2.4x in one year. GAAP gross margin is 74.6%, far above AMD and Intel. But that strength also creates concentration risk. Data center now represents most of total revenue, while Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and Google account for a large share of sales. The market is no longer valuing NVIDIA like a normal chip company. It is valuing it like an AI monopoly platform. Assume an entry at $140 with a technical stop 12% lower. That makes 12% your 1R. If NVDA reaches $200, the upside is about 43%, or roughly 3.6R. On paper, that looks attractive. The problem is that your real risk may be larger than your stop suggests. If AI capex growth slows—not collapses, just slows—NVIDIA could face both lower growth expectations and multiple compression. A move from a 35–45x valuation toward the mid-20s could produce a 30–40% drawdown. In that case, the real downside is closer to -2.5R or -3R. This is not a prediction. It is a structure. In early 2023, the asymmetry was obvious. Downside may have been around 15%, while upside could have been several hundred percent if AI demand exploded. Today, the structure is much less attractive. It may be 2:1. It may even be 1:2. So don’t ask, “Is NVIDIA a great company?” Ask: Is there a clean VCP? Is the 50-day moving average holding? Is the breakout confirmed by strong relative volume? Is the stock already too extended above the 200-day moving average? Does the trade offer at least 3R? A great company with a bad entry is still a bad trade. The “AI is the future” argument is not enough. The internet changed the world, but Cisco still took more than two decades to recover from its 2000 peak. A technology can win while the stock goes nowhere because growth slows and valuation compresses. If you already hold NVDA with large gains, manage the drawdown. One approach is to trim one-third after a 5% pullback, another third after a 10% pullback, and let the final third run with a wider stop, such as the 200-day moving average. If you are considering a new position, define your 1R before entering. Then define the realistic nR. If the trade cannot offer at least 3R, skip it. What I see today is not a must-buy. I see a stock that demands precise timing: volatility contraction near the apex, support at the 50-day moving average, and a breakout confirmed by strong volume. Otherwise, prefer missing the trade over losing money. NVIDIA may be a phenomenal company. But the stock and the company are not the same thing. **The stock is what you pay. The company is what you get.** Control what you can: position size, risk, and loss. Ignore what you cannot control: the next earnings print, the next conference call, and the macro environment.#NVIDIA #invest #techstocks #stocks
