The word “rapture” isn’t in the Bible. Believers are caught up to meet Christ at His visible return (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17), with the trumpet, the resurrection, and every eye seeing Him (Revelation 1:7). Jesus also repeatedly says the meek will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5; Psalm 37:9, 11, 29), not leave it forever. Also, in Jesus’ own teaching about the end, the ones who are “taken” are associated with judgment, just as the flood took people away (Matthew 24:37–39), and in Luke’s account, when the disciples ask, “Where, Lord?” Jesus answers, “Where the body is, there the vultures (or eagles) will gather” (Luke 17:34–37). That imagery points to judgment, not a secret rescue.
