As a black mixed person it’s honestly been so upsetting to see I’m not going to lie. I’m really really bad with words so I’m not going to try and articulate my experience, but essentially it makes me feel like I shouldn’t exist. Or that I somehow “betrayed” my own people because of who my mother decided to marry and have children with. I don’t know if that makes any sense but it’s just how the discourse I’ve been seeing has made me felt :(

as a mixed person i think it’s gotten to the point online where we cannot engage in any part of this conversation anymore without getting ridiculed or told we are not a part of the community like 😭 it’s very isolating when the internet used to be a safe space to find other blk people of any creed or color :(

I’m in an IR relationship. I’ve held rallys to get black students registered to vote, monthly visitor to the black history museum, have mostly black friends, celebrate Juneteenth and not 4th of July etc. but I’m still considered not “pro black” due to my relationship and it’s exhausting. I just one care anymore lol.

as a biracial it's been almost shocking because my whole life I've been told to try my damnedest to embrace black culture and now I can't even fix my lips to have an opinion about anything and some of the things I'm seeing being said about people like me who had no choice in who my parents are sometimes feels like a slap in the face...

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, one of the best thing you can do for your community is critique your community’s sentiments and behavior when they’re doing something wrong. Reason being, it stops sentiments like what the poster is talking about from festering by diffusing those bombs before they’re ignited.

I've felt very odd about the idea of going back to "ebonics," but as a white person, I don't really have a say in that. Still, I understand the problem with AAVE as a term but don't understand why other terms I've seen, such as AAE or Black English wouldn't be preferred. So at this point, idk what I should personally be saying. I've just kinda been observing to see what sticks, I guess
