@micechat: 🏴‍☠️👀 Surprise! Pirates of the Caribbean quietly reopened today at Disneyland with an all-new effect hidden in the treasure grotto. Just before the caves open into the pirate ship battle, a pirate sitting atop a mountain of cursed gold transforms into a skeleton right before your eyes. It’s the first use in an attraction of Disney’s next-generation Audio-Animatronics technology, blending front projection with a moving figure to create an expressive transformation. I just rode it, and the effect itself is impressive (especially from a distance). but we do have some criticism. The added sound effects feel louder and more dramatic than the subtle atmosphere that defines the rest of the attraction. It also shifts the classic storytelling beat slightly, since the caves traditionally transition from silent skeletons to living pirates only as you leave the grotto behind. Still, it’s fascinating to see this new generation of Audio-Animatronics technology make its debut in such a classic attraction. ❓What do you think? I don't hate it as much as others seem to, but it seems to reset rather quickly which kind of ruins the effect. Did it seem like that in person?

That scene needed to have been left alone! An alive pirate there breaks the narrative. He should have been at the end on the opposite side of the returning ramp waterfall across from Cpt. Jack Sparrow juxtaposing a smart pirate from a foolish 🏴‍☠️
