⚘Pink Eye Remedy⚘ A remedy I swear by aside from breastmilk! Chamomile is one of my favorite herbs to reach for when pink eye makes an appearance. Pink eye is one of those things kids may unfortunately be exposed to or get from a viral infection. The eye can become swollen & irritated while the whites take on that telltale pink color & you may notice itching or crusty discharge around the lashes. because pink eye can be extremely contagious, cleanliness matters. Always wash your hands before & after tending to the eye, use a fresh compress each time & never dip a used cloth back into your tea. If using a dropper, make sure the tip never touches the eye or lashes. I like to start with a warm chamomile compress to gently loosen & wipe away any crust or discharge. To make it, add a heaping tbsp of chamomile to an 8 oz jar, pour hot water over it, cover & steep for about an hour. Allowing it to cool completely, then strain it very thoroughly so no tiny plant particles remain. Chamomile is traditionally loved for its soothing, calming qualities, making the cooled infusion lovely as an external compress when the eyes feel irritated or itchy. If you don’t have chamomile you could also work with herbs like plantain, calendula, eyebright, fennel & goldenrod.
