@offtheeatentrack.co: I went into Narai-juku thinking I knew what to expect. A beautifully preserved old town, probably overrun with tourists. Turns out I was only half right. Go early and you have the whole street nearly to yourself. With the Kiso Valley as a backdrop, Narai-juku absolutely blew me away. Don't leave without trying the gohei mochi and toji soba.
