People are so immature, they focus on poop and "disgusting" stuff instead of the psychological aspects of it. Art is not only about entertainment and easy stuff. Art often explores many uncomfortable , complex topics, main character doesn't need to be flawless, just like us humans often do many strange and messed up things. Exploring such topics helps us understand people and hardships. It's sad that people can't move past uncomfortable stuff to notice the deeper meanings. Btw, did you read Litchi Hikari Club? It's my favourite❤️

It's the reason I finished reading Oyasumi Punpun despite being absolutely gut wrenched at every turn of the page. It just told a real story, of people that could be real in the world we live in, and how they affected what's around them. You're not escaping into a magical dreamworld, you're being grounded to look at the possibilities of what's happening in your own, and left to consider how YOUR own choices affect others.

I've read it and I genuinely enjoyed the writing, I think people need to stop reacting to mild discomfort as if it's a moral crisis, you're allowed to be uncomfortable but you should also be able to withstand a certain level of it without losing your mind and jumping to defensiveness

I have refused to finish a book/anime/manga because it made me uncomfortable before. I absolutely do not believe anyone has to engage with any media that makes them uncomfortable. However, I fully understand and a lot of time appreciate the themes or reasons behind the media and understand why someone may engage with those challenging themes.
