Fashion designers actually need to step up and charge their worth confidently. I can pay 15k to make a hair that takes barely 10 hours to complete, yet some customers will price two-piece outfits less 10k. Omo, I’ve decided I won’t suffer myself again. If you can’t pay my worth, please take your clothes elsewhere. An industrial sewing machine costs about 420k, a steaming iron is 65k and above, an ironing table is almost 80k depending on what you want and a manual machine is close to 200k—not to mention rent, electricity, maintenance, threads, and other materials. How exactly is a designer supposed to recover these investments, grow the business, and still deliver quality work while charging giveaway prices? As designers, we actually need to do better by valuing our craft. If we don’t respect our work, it will be difficult for others to respect it too.

A client sent me a rtw inspo and asked me to make that exact dress for her,I had to tell her i can’t do it because the rtw vendor was selling the dress for 10k and I definitely won’t sew that dress for 10k with material,NEVER!
