On January 28, 1981, the body of an unidentified young woman was found in a wooded area near Highway 157 in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. A man searching for scrap metal discovered her remains and alerted authorities. The young woman had been deceased for weeks, and investigators could not determine her identity. There was a knife next to her when they found her. With no ID and few clues, she became known as “Bossier Jane Doe.” She was estimated to be between 16 and 30 years old, with auburn hair and a homemade tattoo of the letters “JP” on her hand. Despite efforts to identify her, the case went cold for decades. In 2015, her body was exhumed for DNA analysis, but it wasn’t until 2022 that genetic genealogy finally provided answers. She was identified as 17-year-old Carol Ann Cole, who had gone missing from Texas in 1980. Her family had been searching for her for over 40 years. While her identity was confirmed, her cause of death was ruled a homicide, and her case remains unsolved. The discovery of Carol Ann Cole highlights the importance of forensic advancements in giving long-lost victims their names back and providing families with long-awaited answers. #truecrime #crime #truecrimestory #fyp #breakingnews
