Back in the day it was a normal thing. My parents worked 2-3 jobs and I was the one watching my brother and sister. It made us who we are today and such great memories. We’d go to the beach, go to minigolf to play games and whataburger or to my dads job to have lunch. Wow just thinking about it brings a smile to my face .

60 years ago, our families would send us kids to the beach in the morning and they would come down at noon with sandwiches for our lunch. There were lifeguards but we were on our own, the oldest was probably 9. But we know better now.

My sister (2yrs older than me) at the ages of 11 & 13 were dropped off at the Santa Monica Pier/Beach. No water, no food, no phones, (no $$ to buy anything) but enough money to take the bus home OR we would be picked up by 6pm at a specific location. If we were not there we would have to figure out how to get back home on our own. This was late 70’s early 80’s. 😐😑😐
