Yes the Ottomans were Turkish Rulers but the term and meaning of Ottomans does not belong to a singular particular race ethnicity instead being an Ottoman was for all Muslims around the world. All the people from different races/ethnicities as long as they were Muslims and they pledge their allegiance to the Ottoman Sultan Halife & the Hilafet they are also considered to be part of the Ottomans. So Turks Mongols Arabs Kurds Persians Chinese Africans Europeans...etc as long as they were all Muslims they were considered to be Ottomans.

Why take the country then. why did they take young boys from the balkans and brought them up as turks to fight their own people (Jannisaries) .what about the invasion of cyprus in 1974 took a third of the island looted and ruined the churches.
