There was a campaign to make us proud of our ratings(like in the 90s). So that might have something to do with it. But also with so many renters having to shift houses every 12 months, having the sticker on helps make better choices on the secondhand market. Same for low income households. The info on the sticker is not readily available online when you search for it. I for one appreciate the stickers being in there as when I go to buy another appliance, I’m in the secondhand bracket. And I live on solar power. So that big number in the red box helps me know if I can even run it on my system.

It is because when they first started putting the stickers on. They were nearly impossible to remove. It was terrible glue and so it was neater to just leave it on. So as kids we grew up with the stickers on white goods and it became a habit not to remove it even though today the stickers are incredibly easy to remove and do not leave any sticky residue.

Cause I like showing off my shiny appliances with fantastic energy ratings as a nod to being environmentally aware and counter the fact I drive a 4WD to the other shop instead of the one I can walk to in ten minutes #Straya lol
