Lol I'm tired of using the same overplayed Lumineers/Noah Kahan/Hozier songs behind my reels just because they fit some kind of outdoorsy granola aesthetic, so instead I'm using My Hood, since I am going back to the ol' stomping grounds! Michigan!!! 🫎🌲🧤 Finally, a trip that I've been brainstorming since last fall is coming to fruition 🌀 After I ran R2R2R last fall, I returned to school from Thanksgiving break to finish my final ~3 weeks of my degree. I began researching a spring trip to Michigan. My brother backpacked Isle Royale several years ago and it's been my dream to follow in his shoes ever since (a little sister has to look up to her big brother♥️) I toyed with backpacking across the island as well, but R3 really set the stage of curiosity for what other 40-50 mile adventures I could do. It feels like just yesterday that I was sitting there at that lab desk on campus, scrolling the FKT website and stumbling upon a few on Isle Royale. Ever since then, I've been flirting with the idea of attempting to break it, and the weather window is starting to look perfect to give it a go. My leg has been bothering me a little bit so there's still a small chance that I'm going to back down and leisurely backpack across the island instead, so don't hold me to it just yet... but I'm starting to feel pretty confident in the execution of these plans. I cannot wait to share more about how logistically silly it has been to plan this entire trip. Booking seaplanes to get to/from the island, figuring out where to store my town stuff while I'm on the island, figuring out how to get my backpacking stuff from one end of the island to the other while I'm running across it with a lighter pack... people think traveling to Glacier NP is logistically complex--let me tell you, Isle Royale takes the cake. 🎂 Stay tuned!!!
