I don't know why, but I've always liked the idea that the Backrooms were inspired by the Flea Market Montgomery Incident. According to the story, during the filming of one of the flea market's final commercials, Montgomery told the crew he was going to use the restroom. When two or three hours passed without him returning, the crew went to check on him. He was supposed to appear in the last commercial before the flea market permanently closed, but Montgomery had vanished without a trace. Police searched the building for days, and investigators were left baffled by how someone could seemingly disappear into thin air. To this day, no evidence has ever explained what happened. One of the strangest details came from people who knew Montgomery. They claimed he would occasionally talk about going "home." Most assumed he meant a small man cave or a private place to relax. But after his disappearance, that simple phrase took on a much darker meaning. Some theories now suggest that whatever Montgomery meant by "home"... wasn't a place anyone else could find.

I’ve always loved Flea Market Montgomery. I remember singing it at high school in 2010 and getting people to see it. They would ask me to sing the song and do the mini mall shuffle. Happy to see it back again after so long, it’s like seeing an old friend.
