@zekedarwinscience: Were Neanderthals doomed by their own genetics? New DNA from France and Belgium says probably not… in fact, the eastern Neanderthals may be a poor model for the majority of the Neanderthals population. New evidence can change our understanding fast. #evolution #origins #dna #archaeology #learning

Sometimes, I wish biologists and geneticists would talk more to historians and archaeologists, because they try too hard to genetically code behaviours that can be more easily explained by social interactions that surpass genetic code.

this is super interesting but I just need to extend a compliment to you - you are a true scientist. you are willing to correct your past videos. thank you for being honest, real, and very good at explaining things! your videos always make my day.

what does high cover genome and low coverage mean?

Like I always say, the fossil record is such a small sample of animals that have lived, and the ones we have found and cataloged are even less. We will always be finding things we thought were not possible before. Until we find a better way.

One quick hypothesis: Is it possible that since we see evidence of male Neanderthals moving about. Is it possible that they would leave their tribes and search for families, kind of like elephants, and would settle down and interbreed with sapiens?

So interesting! Especially the evidence of widely dispersing Neanderthal males and the Sapien specific hybridisation. I wonder if this could be Sapien groups welcomed a wandering Neanderthal male into their groups, as a Tank build provider

1) I really appreciate how you are willing to make changes based on new evidence. I mean, that is the point of science, but many people have issues with it. 2) I’m sorry, but I’m not sure what “high coverage “ means in reference to genomic information. I assume it means that the results are better in some way, but not sure what that way is.
