Tomatoes crack when they go from dry conditions to suddenly getting lots of water. After a heavy rain or deep watering, the fruit swells faster than the skin can stretch… and pop! The good news? If the crack is fresh and there’s no mold or rot, it’s still perfectly fine to eat. Just harvest it right away. Want to help prevent cracking? 🍅 Water consistently.
