The alternator coil under the flywheel was all busted up. He took it off but was unable to replace it due to part cost. He'll just manually charge the battery after each use.

You said there wasn't any oil in it. Why not put some in and see if it spins freely and easier before tearing all apart.

The alternator is located under the flywheel and broke out of the engine housing so it was lose and getting stuck

It’s just wether seized put diesel or oil down the cylinder and spin it over it will be fine

ill dave yall the time bc this is already basically the end of the vid, the stator coils under the flywheel broke off and jammed against the flywheel. the engine doesn't get put back together in the video👍

Oh dear all small engines do this when tge valve clearance is too large. You just need to adjust the valve clearance.

my guess is bad bearing. if he can turn it one way no problem but it gets stuck another way it is possible there is a groove in the bearings and one of the balls rotates and locks itself in the groove. rotating it in one direction allows it to clear the groove but the opposite way probably gets trapped in it.
