It’s International Champagne day! I wasn’t going to post until Halloween, but I had to honor today 🍾 My history with, and some history of, En Pointe Bottlewalking 🐈‍⬛🎃👻 Here’s my lil Halloween Bianca Passarge homage! I’ve had this written in my notes to do for a costume since June and I’m so excited it’s finally Halloween time and I can share it. As I’m sure most bottle walkers were inspired by this photo, so was I. And my first attempts to try this discipline were massive failures. But given the time and resources I eventually figured out how to walk across these bottles en pointe just as Bianca Passarge did in her Schwarze Katze act. I even had another performer tell me they had a copyright on en pointe bottlewalking when I started training this, but not only can you not copyright a skill or discipline, this specific one has evidence of existing for over 100 years! Bianca said that the idea for this specific act came to her in a dream and I love that almost 80 years later that dream is still alive 🖤 I also found a photo of a woman balancing on a champagne bottle back in 1907 (?) in the Library of Congress archives, should I do an homage to her next?? #ballet #pointeshoes #ballettok #halloween #ballerina
