A new production opened at Kiln Theatre in 2023, starring Dujonna Gift and Sam Tutty. In April 2024, it transferred to the Criterion Theatre in the West End. It is now playing at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway (premiering in November 2025), with Tutty back in the show, opposite Christiani Pitts from the Cambridge production. It was The New York Times’ “Critic’s Pick”. The Broadway production earned 8 Tony nominations including Best New Musical, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Book, Best Score, Best Direction, Best Scenic Design and Best Orchestrations! Playing the Longacre Theatre, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) follows a naïve and impossibly upbeat Brit, Dougal, who has just landed in New York for his estranged father’s second wedding.
