Iran captain Mehdi Taremi has slammed FIFA and World Cup hosts, the United States, for 'unfair' travel restrictions imposed only on his nation's football team. The Iran team had to travel from Mexico to the United States for all three of their opening group games and return the same day, hampering their recovery and causing logistical issues. Many of the team's essential staff were also denied visas to accompany the squad. Taremi further said that FIFA President Gianni Infantino had promised to take care of these issues after their first game, but nothing had since changed. It leaves Iran with 3 points after drawing all their games – they must now wait and hope for favorable results in other matches to secure a place in the next round.
