as a riot grrrl lover there r TONS of newer bands that emphasize poc issues and inclusion!! but it does make me ashamed to identify w riot grrrl knowing the history of racism and exclusion (which hypocritically and directly opposes the values it was built on)

at my first punk concert, a riot grrl band played and they were all black. they are called bussy kween power trip they're really good ☺️

This was considered white people music back in the day. I grew up in Seattle in the 80s and 90s. Music was more segregated back then. You are so lucky that these days race doesn’t influence the type of music you can listen to unlike back then. It wasn’t a hard rule but we gravitated to music more aligned with our culture. Also like someone said before the PNW was lily white in those days.

I suggest The Brat!! they're a Chicana-led band, their songs are not exclusively feminist in nature but I'm pretty sure their lead singer is one!!
